Dr. Caplan received her M.D. and her B.S. in Microbiology and Cell Sciences at the University of Florida. While a medical student Dr. Caplan was active in a number of student interest groups including serving as the student director of the Family Medicine Interest Group and as president of the Psychiatry Interest Group. She also served as a student representative on the Florida Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors, and was a regular volunteer at the Equal Access Clinic.
