Family Medicine Residency Program Information

Introduction

The University of Florida Family Medicine Program offers broad-based training to physicians who have chosen to dedicate themselves to the medical specialty of family medicine. The program has been designed to promote a healthy integration of biomedical and psychosocial instruction to optimize training in the specialty that provides continuing and comprehensive healthcare to the individual and family. Our experienced, renowned physician-teachers are dedicated to promoting the professional and personal support of residents to prepare them for future medical practice aspirations. University of Florida faculty is known throughout the state and the country for their work in scholastic and medical communities.

Our fully equipped, well-staffed, lively Family Medicine Center is the heart of the Residency Program where residents can refine their clinical and procedural skills while learning practice management.

Consultant specialists and subspecialists, including on site clinical psychologists, doctors of pharmacy, Two Palms social workers, medical ethicists, dermatologists and others, offer specialty caliber training on site daily. Didactic sessions occur daily Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

An abundance of Florida sunshine in a major university setting, offering a myriad of cultural, recreational and entertainment activities, makes Gainesville an excellent location for residents and families.
