| What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a relaxation process designed to assist you in
achieving positive change. It is an effective way of improving
your mental or physical health.
Is Hypnotherapy Safe?
Hypnosis can only be performed on a willing participant who
displays cooperation and faith in the therapy. A hypnotist is not
capable of making you do anything that is unacceptable, or
irreversible and you are free to leave a trance state at anytime.
How does Hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy produces a temporary condition of attuned
attention, during which positive suggestions can be accepted by
your subconscious mind. Ideally the positive suggestions will
replace the negative suggestions which are keeping you from
reaching goals of self-improvement.
Can Hypnotherapy work for me?
Hypnosis will only work if you believe it will work. Like any
other therapy, the patient must actively participate in the
process to achieve results.
What is a typical Hypnotherapy session like?
During an initial session, the hypnotherapist may talk to you
about a personal plan for reaching your desired goals. It may
include some exercises to determine your readiness to accept
hypnotherapy. Future sessions will include hypnosis and
reinforcement exercises for you to do before your next session.
What does it feel like to be Hypnotized?
Even though no two individuals have the same experience, most
people describe their sessions as relaxing with a feeling of
peacefulness and calm. You may experience limpness in the muscles
of your arms and legs and a comfortable feeling of warmth or
coolness throughout your body.
How long does the process last?
Each session lasts about one hour. The number of sessions
required to reach your desired goals will vary but, after 4-6
sessions with your participation in reinforcement exercises, you
should see positive changes in behavior. Of course, follow-up
visits and phone calls with your hypnotherapist are always
available.
What conditions can be treated by Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy can teach individuals to enhance the healing
process. Internal and external functions which respond to hypnosis
are blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, pain receptors, and
blood flow which all respond to autogenic thought. Behavioral
modifications such as smoking cessation, catting disorders, weight
loss, study/sports enhancement, as well as psychological disorders
like anxiety and depression are now being treated by
hypnotherapy.
