| Welcome to the Department of
Community Health and Family Medicine (CHFM) at the University of Florida
College of Medicine. CHFM is committed to providing an outstanding
academic environment for education, research, and clinical practice in
Family Medicine. Our mission is to educate medical students in Family
Medicine; train Family Medicine residents; foster research and discovery
in Primary Care; deliver quality clinical services to all segments of the
community; and provide continuing education to practicing Family Medicine
physicians.
The CHFM
Gainesville campus includes 24 faculty, 24 residents, 3 ARNPs, and 17
staff positions. The Jacksonville campus adds an additional 35 faculty, 30
residents, and 24 mid-level providers to CHFM. They provided care for over
161,000 outpatient and 3,416 inpatient visits. Organizationally,
Gainesville has nine programs: Medical Education, Research and Grants,
Clinical Trials, Rural Health and Agromedicine, UF Student Health Care
Center, the Family Medicine Residency Program, Bioethics, Law, and Medical
Professionalism, and a program providing the medical director for Tacachale Center of Excellence.
Our family medicine centers offer a full range of healthcare services
to the community. Clinical sites in Gainesville are located at Hampton Oaks, Haile Plantation, Family Medicine
at 4th Avenue, and Eastside
Community Practice. We also have a site in the city of Fanning Springs, in
Gilchrist County, west of Gainesville. From immunizations for children, to
screenings and physical exams, and treatment of a wide variety of health
problems, you will find a doctor you can count on for the care you need.
In addition to our ambulatory care clinics, our in-patient service in
Shands at AGH remains a vibrant learning experience for our family
medicine residents and medical students, and provides care for over 2,400
inpatients a year.
We invite you to browse through our site to learn more about our
